Southern Nevada
Youth Tennis
Foundation

The most important SNYTF objective is to fill an enormous window of local access to our youth.  We will provide safe, expertly supervised, tennis activities for local children in the after school hours from 3-7 PM, weekends, and throughout the summer.

Tennis is the sport of choice in this case because unlike, football, baseball, softball, soccer, and basketball, tennis is the only sport in Clark County, Nevada which has high numbers of under utilized facilities year round.

This fact alone is a wide open “tennis window” for us to provide educational and physical activities as an alternative, to perhaps thousands of youths, who would be tempted toward negative involvements.

To execute our first objective we will partner with the Clark County School District, who have at least four tennis courts at forty-eight middle schools and at least five tennis courts at each of thirty-five high schools.  With more than 367 tennis courts to fill, we will join with the Cities of Las Vegas, Henderson, and North Las Vegas to make their tennis facilities a safe, smart, and fun place to be for our children when not in classrooms or at home.

SNYFT will seek private and public funds/grants to provide the identified services to be provided to the youth who volunteer to participate in the program.  The personnel who will provide the services include:  certified USPTA tennis professionals, certified educators, business leaders, sports medicine specialists, athletic trainers, college athletes, tennis clinicians, volunteers, and mentors.

Educational services to supplement tennis instruction and competition will include:  better health and nutrition habits, sportsmanship, how to say “no” to drugs, alcohol, and gangs, and educational/private sector mentorships.

Our second objective is simply to establish permanent office space and staff to increase the visibility, prestige, stability, and longevity of our mission.  We intend to partner with, and host meetings at our offices for, other organizations with similar objectives in order to create a unified effort in our community.

Our third objective is to provide one or more central facilities at which SNYFT can bring important and cutting edge, on-and-off-court educational technology/training to the development of learning skills to children as well as elite athletes.  The latest scientific developments show that sports skills and learning skills overlap in so many ways.  Just one example is how watching a tennis ball and reading are similar eye tasks.

The Southern Nevada Youth Tennis Foundation, and its Board of Directors, has committed itself to the national call for help to prevent and fight obesity, drug and alcohol abuse, gang involvement, and even civic apathy.  As a life long form of exercise, tennis is a powerful vehicle to create healthy minds, bodies, and self esteem.  To accomplish our goal we will bring our love for this sport to one school and one child at a time.
